Without admin previleges, the manager won't restore it

Post by gabizinha »

Came across this 'bug' today.
I backed up my settings from MSI Afterburner application. However, when I tried to restore it (after formatting my PC), it wound't work. Just didn't restore any file or folder.

Later, I found out why: the folder which the program was installed was accessible only with admin privileges, so I checked to 'run as admin' in the GS manager and it worked well :)

As of Windows Vista, certain actions (such as writing to the 'Program Files' or 'Program Files (x86)' directories) require administrative privileges. At the same time, Windows no longer runs programs with your full administrative rights by default.
This is all in the effort to help 'save' the user from rogue software.

When the v3.x branch of GameSave Manager was released, almost no supported title required such actions to restore.
GameSave Manager v4.x branch will, hopefully, have far better UAC (User Account Control) support.
